An Officer of the Board

Time Commitment:

  • 6pm–11pm × 12 Friday Club Nights per year
  • 1–2 Board Meetings monthly
  • Additional time based on current projects

What We Are Looking For:

An experienced board member and community leader who can support the President in guiding the Club, strengthen the board team, and help carry forward the legacy of Calgary Folk Club.


When You Are Needed:

Outside of Club Nights

  • Board meetings
  • Planning, communications, projects and special initiatives

Club Nights

  • Representing the Club in leadership roles
  • Supporting operations and volunteer teams

What You’ll Bring:

  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills (including active listening)
  • Comfort with navigating relationships and resolving conflict
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Confidence using Google Suite, Zoom, and Word processing tools
  • Previous board and management experience
  • Familiarity with Calgary’s folk music scene and live events
  • Direct involvement with the Calgary Folk Club

What You’ll Do:

  • Shadow and assist the President with Club obligations
  • Support the President in managing board needs (meeting prep, scheduling, communications)
  • Serve as a touchpoint for officers and Team Leads
  • Oversee at least one Operational Team or lead a special project
  • Membership, board, and volunteer development (succession plan support)
  • Hold signing authority (determined case by case)

Requirements:

  • Board experience in an executive role
  • Previous management experience
