An Officer of the Board
Communications Director
Time Commitment:
- 6pm–11pm × 12 Friday Club Nights per year
- 1–2 Board Meetings monthly
- Additional time based on communications, grants, and current projects

- President, Board

What We Are Looking For:
A collaborative and highly organized communicator who can keep Board activities on track, ensure clear and consistent messaging, and support the Club’s operations through effective documentation, outreach, and storytelling.
When You Are Needed:
Outside of Club Nights
- Board meetings
- Preparing minutes, newsletters, and communications
- Grant writing and application support
- Coordinating updates with volunteers, members, and the public
Club Nights
- Supporting communications and announcements as needed
- Ensuring smooth information flow between teams
- Representing the Club in a welcoming and professional manner
What You’ll Bring:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Experience with meeting documentation and administrative coordination
- Confidence using Google Suite, email platforms, and document tools
- Ability to manage timelines and keep projects on track
- Experience or interest in grant writing and reporting
- A collaborative, team-oriented mindset
What You’ll Do:
- Record and maintain accurate Board meeting minutes and documentation
- Keep Board activities organized and on track through clear communication and follow-ups
- Assist with grant applications, writing, and reporting
- Create and distribute newsletters and key communications
- Ensure consistent communication with volunteers, audience members, and the public
- Support internal communication between Board members and teams
- Help maintain the Club’s voice, tone, and messaging across platforms

Requirements:
- Strong communication and organizational experience
- Comfort with administrative and coordination tasks
- Experience with or interest in grant writing
- Familiarity with the Calgary Folk Club or local music scene is an asset
