We extend our deepest thanks to Jan Boydol for her remarkable years of service to the Calgary Folk Club Board. Jan first stepped into the role of President in 2013, guiding the club with her trademark commitment, integrity, and steady leadership. After serving several impactful years, she continued to support the board as Past President, providing wisdom and mentorship to then-President Greg Pastirik. Her guidance during that period helped strengthen the club’s direction and long-term vision.
When the need arose, Jan once again answered the call, returning to the President’s role and leading the board with clarity, positivity, and a deep dedication to legacy building. Her passion for thoughtful succession planning and her work as our Write On liaison ensured that the club remained vibrant, sustainable, and deeply connected to its community. In addition, her work with the Alberta Folk Scene Legacy book has ensured the pivotal role the Calgary Folk Club has played over the past 54 years has been documented and honoured.
Jan stepped away from board leadership at our AGM in September. We are profoundly grateful for everything she has contributed. Jan will continue as a volunteer focusing on community engagement.
We wish her all the very best as she continues her connection to the club from the audience—enjoying the music, the culture, and the community she helped to nurture for so many years.
Thank you, Jan, for everything.
