Celebrating 50+ Years of Music and Tradition

Since its inception over five decades ago, the Calgary Folk Club has stood as a pillar of musical discovery and community in our city. Founded with a passion for folk music and a commitment to showcasing Alberta’s rich talent, our club has grown into a vital hub for artists and listeners alike.

At the heart of our mission is the belief that music is a powerful force for connection and understanding. Through partnerships forged over the years, we’ve not only promoted local talent but also brought the diverse sounds of Alberta to audiences across the globe. This legacy of collaboration has helped us shape Calgary’s music scene and establish ourselves as Canada’s premier folk club.

Each performance at the Calgary Folk Club is a journey of discovery. Our dedicated audience, known for its attentive listening, eagerly awaits the musicality, harmonies, and storytelling of both seasoned performers and rising stars. This environment of reflection and appreciation fosters a unique bond between artists and listeners, creating moments of shared inspiration and creativity.

One of our core values is ensuring fair compensation for artists, adhering to Socan Standards. By providing a platform where musicians can refine their craft and experiment with new material, we contribute to the vibrancy of the western Canadian music market. This commitment to nurturing talent extends to our ‘First-up’ slots, which showcase emerging artists alongside established award-winners, ensuring a diverse lineup that captivates and inspires.

As we celebrate our rich history and look toward the future, the Calgary Folk Club remains dedicated to creating an inclusive and accessible space for all music lovers. Our concerts are not just performances but experiences that celebrate the power of live music to unite and uplift communities. Join us as we continue to champion folk music in Calgary and beyond, where the past meets the present and the music resonates with the spirit of our city.
